ANY REAL Yankee Fans out There?

I was born in Manhattan so yeah... huge Yankee fan.

But, baseball has become boring for me. The same routine in the AL East every year and this will be no different. Whether you like it or not, 13.5 games back and still, you know the yankees and red sox will BOTH make the playoffs. It's inevitable. And then it's a whole new ball game.

Hey all,
Newbie here - nice to meet you all...I work with Sal here at ML.

A good portion of our employees consists of die-hard Yankees fans. I know - we're in FLorida, so we should support the Marlins or the Rays, right? Bah.

Being down 13.5 games is nothing...We've still got 70% of the REGULAR SEASON left to make it up and Boston will more than likely hit a wall somewhere around the All Star break. I know the Yanks can replicate the Boston Massacre this year and win the remaining games between the two. We just gotta get our heads in it and keep onthe lokout for some worthy pitching capable of carrying our openers thru the 5-8th innings...

I'm just wondering which team we'll be playing in the World Series this year :)

I don't want to shit on your thread (well, actually I do), but you Yankee fans are more delusional than the Sox fans were for 80+ years.

The Yankees are a bunch of overpaid has-beens that had big names at one time or another but are now all washed up. Steinbrenner's focus on "win now at all cost" over the past two decades is finally biting him in the ass. All the good character/role players from those late 90s teams are gone (aside from Jeter) and there is absolutely NO team chemistry now.

I don't see them finishing in last place, but making the playoffs is a BIG stretch. They just don't have the pitching (Roger is good, but he won't be dominant, and he can only do it every 5 days) and their offense looks good on paper if it were 2002.

The question you should be wondering is: "Who is going to be the manager, GM, 3B in 2008?"

And yes, I'm a Red Sox fan (from Boston, not one of the bw hoppers). While we're on the subject I wonder how many of these posers who wear Yankee hats but can't name 3 players are going to start wearing Red Sox gear.

I just threw up in my mouth thinking about it...

Hardcore Red Sox fan here. Lived in New England all my life.

I hate the yankees as much as any other red sox fan, but I gotta say....I'm not expecting them to be down for long. They're the yankees. They WILL catch up, and as someone already said we'll both end up in the playoffs again. And then we'll slaughter you of course.

Wow there are so many authentic Red Sox fans here, makes me feel all warm n gooey inside.

Going to start? I see it all the time. Makes me sick

I'm a huge Red Sox fan, but I have respect for the Yankees. Theres nothing that pisses me off more than the "Yankees Suck" chant. I do think the yankees will close the gap. I think we were in somewhat of the same position last season, 7.5 games ahead I think? Not sure. But yeah, it's the Red Sox. The only team that can break your heart.

It's all going to come down to pitching and personally this season I don't think they have it. So they picked up Clemens, alright. He pitched in the NL the last few seasons and only threw what, 5 or 6 innings a game? The NL cannot hit for shit compared to the AL. I think he has his work cut out for him. He's one of my favorite players of all time, but I think he might have a Nolan Ryan this season and self destruct.

Because I hate the Yankees.

I love watching the mess Cashman put that team in. Love hearing from delusional Steinny. Love watching an All-Star at every position not produce.

Redsox fan? Why do you define yourself in terms of the Yanks then, Yankee Hater? :)
