I am new here and would like any input on how I can best utilize the skill set I bring to this forum. I have written a few articles and been told the content was great. I teach writing and writing is something I like to do regularly. I am a quick learner, and would welcome any input as to where to start in this business and on this forum.

I'd hop around here (not a dickroll, promise) Content - WickedFire - Affiliate Marketing Forum - Internet Marketing Webmaster SEO Forum and see what people are selling.
Keep in mind that the writing people are looking for is generally sales copy or for SEO. If you're not familiar with either of those I'd learn them both (especially sales copy because it helps you in all facets of business).
