Anybody still running with Hydra?

I won't touch them anymore. I know it probably depends on which AM you have but when you start doing a little volume, nothing special, (few thousand a day), leave it for a few days, ask for weeklies and get told "sure, we'll put you on net30", it's time to find another network.

I don't really get a thread like this without actually mentioning the problems with Hydra. I've never had an issue with them. But then my volumes are pretty small.

I run a lot as well, never had one issue with payment, nor am I worried about that.

Be careful with BizOpps there, though. I've made my point a month ago on here about my belief their A's shave like crazy. Every Biz Opp we tried started off great, then went south after 30 days

you should be happy about even finding a bizopp that only goes south after 30 days. most of them go south after 1 week.

I don't know which networks you're referring to but many of the networks we run with have strong bizopps that last many months... yeah some die out a quick death, some never hit the ground running, but theres a bunch of solid ones by solid advertisers that always seem to produce.

I've found often biz opps that slow down after 3-4 months can often be brought back to life by letting them rest a few weeks, then re-trying.. works like a charm here.

I'm still running with them...they are the best in my opinion compared to the other networks. My AM is always available, they have solid offers, and I get my money on time without issue...that's what we all want right?

Sounds like a sales pitch. They don't seem to want to answer my emails about an old check that is owed to me (only a few hundred). I have emailed about 6 different people and not one has replied. Only a few hundo so its not a big deal, just surprised not one person answered an email even using their contact form. It doesn't exactly scream "I want your business" especially after that last Hydra thread here. I guess I will give them a call to get an answer.

I have a serious question...

Ummmm... no

2 posts, both of them pro Hydra. I really hate when networks create accounts here to spin themselves positive PR. If you want to be a part of this community, then be a part of this community. Don't sit on the sidelines and chime in on these threads. I could be wrong, but this sure smells like bullshit.

It's my job to be here to participate in threads having to do with Hydra... or other related issues. And while I may be stupid, I am not that stupid as to create a shill account with almost no postings for everyone to suspect is a shill account. So if it IS a shill, it's a freelance vigilante shill. I didn't authorize it.

Fair enough Mason. I knew you were around here, but you gotta admit...it looks a little suspicious.

Not really... if you think about it, there are very few opportunities for a noob to get a word in edgewise without being flogged, so when a simple subject comes up like "Do you like Hydra" it gives them a chance to open their yapper.

Hydra made it on to Inc's 500 Fastest Growing list again (also on in '07 and '08) with revenue of $108 million so they are probably doing something right.

Off topic but the ever-controversial-on-wickedfire Clickbooth was number 5 on the same list, with 12,654% growth over three years.

It took like a year for Hydra to get around to accepting me into their network. Then they told me they wanted me to fax in tax forms and I was like WAT.

I thought about paying a disheveled looking homeless man to pose as me and hand deliver the forms (since they're local), but I never got around to executing that awesome plan.

And that is the extent of my experience with them.

I assume you don't mean W9s.

The best way to get into a network quickly and cleanly is to get a referral from a publisher already on that network, who kicks ass, to vouch for you.

AMers are one giant dysfunctional family. A friend of a friend usually lets you in the "Circle of Trust" quicker than if you're gonna email "Howdy! My name is George and I'd like to join your network!"

I've been content with Hydra all along after almost 5 years. Never had a single issue as far as payments or serious discrepancies are concerned. Obviously there have been those day-to-day issues but all were resolved in an acceptable manner (and usually to my advantage.) Apart from the recent changing names and restructuring I've still got a ton of faith in them. I'll admit, though, that I haven't run a ton since my last AM was promoted.

Yeah, that's what it took for them to finally accept me. But then when they asked for the W-9 I went back into lazy mode.

I stopped running Hydra about 6 months ago after I went through 3 different account managers in less than a month. I was consistently doing about 10k/month with them and their AMs could have cared less about me. I spoke with them at SES in San Jose last month and told them my story and they were "oooh so sorry" about my situation, took my card, name and number and never followed up. I heard they're in some big legal battle right now so who knows.
