Basically I'm using a scraper to scrape ebay for items. I did have it linked to my ebay partner network account but the commission is shit.

My site jacks on an extra 30% to the item and I sell the item via my site.

I then buy the item manually on ebay and change the shipping address to the buyer from my site.

I've just had my first sale and am sceptical about this idea. If it works and I start banking where can I get screwed?

Obviously you aren't familiar with DP's owner's suite filed against him by eBay a couple years back.

actually i don't think he can get in trouble with ebay, its not what sean was doing.

but where you can get fucked is a. getting outbid, or b. a lot of sellers wont ship to anyone but the paypal address that buys item.

Your basically using Ebay as your dropshipper to the customer. Your better off finding a dropship company that can do this for you, and you'll get better pricing than what's on Ebay.

Yeah ebay is acting as my drop shipper, the scraper only lists new buy it now items so not having to worry to much about crap turning up to the customer or out bids.

I will probably start using a proper drop shipper once I have enough volume or buy the stock myself.

Will report back with my findings :)

wont work, the buyers shipping address wont be paypal confirmed and MOST sellers dont ship to unconfirmed address. plus you will have no protection if shit fucks up and items get lost or stolen in transit. more headache in this then $

Ok to report back - I'm getting around 40 visits a day to my site. I do not list anything on my site however I get the visitor to enter the model number of the item they need.

I've used a hacked up version of wordbay that goes off and gets the relevant item from ebay and add's 30% to it.

Out of the 40 visits I'm getting around 8 searches for relevant items daily. And am only selling around 1 item a week. So this little experiment making me around $70 a month.

Which is shit.

Ideally I need to be converting 7 of the 8 searches into sales. That would see me close to a $100 day.

I've just bought a book (i know!) landing page optimisation by Tim Ash - anyone read it?

Why don't you invest your time and money on more proven channels like media buying, rather than penny pinching? Yes, you'll blow money faster than the blink of an eye sometimes but hey, if you work hard and track everything, you'll eventually be successful.
