I actually like basecamp honestly, it's easy to use and has great organization capabilities.

Been a while since I personally used it but a business I helped start used/still uses it for managing a staff of >50 freelance writers. Always did what we needed it to do flawlessly.

Basecamp is great if you keep up with it. If you/your team don't then its worthless.

I used it at my old job, the team couldn't get into it so it flopped. Maybe outside of a hardcore unix team it works, but they just couldn't deal with anything managementy.

i paid for it for like a year and never used it. ActiveCollab is self hosted and better.
