The "gold" edition is going for $17k

How much gold is in it? Maybe a $100 bucks. These fuckers are laughing all the way to the bank. They have def represented a big brand at one point.

Apple Watch

EDIT: And not even on the front page of reddit. Maybe nobody gives a shit?

fuck the watch the new macbook looks dope as fuck

fuck that thing. They got rid off all the exterior ports, with the exception of the headphone, and some crazy new proprietary port. Not sure why they think that getting rid of the ablity to plug more than one thing in is a good idea.

Well you're wrong on the proprietary thing. You should actually be cheering for USB C rather than Thunderbolt, which was exclusively licensed to Apple for quite a long time. You'll start seeing these connectors everywhere very soon.

I would however miss my magsafe power connector, that shit is a life saver if you've ever tripped over a power cord.

I love the balls on Apple.

They know their cult like fan base will buy anything they slap their logo on. They didn't even have to try and brand it. I wonder how much time they spent coming up with that product name.

Haters gonna hate, buyers gonna buy...

Those who moan about Apple should take a long hard look at how they work if they want to become successful.

They want everything to go in the (NSA) Cloud :)

I'm more disappointed in the battery life.

People aren't hating on Apple, they're mocking the typical Apple fan that buys into the hype. This is a marketing forum so it's amusing when marketers swallow marketing.

I think it's funnier when you have marketers act as if they're immune to marketing and that being marketed to is something inherently bad. Every single thing you ever bought was marketed to you in some way. And buying a $10k+ apple watch doesn't make someone any more susceptible to marketing or generally gullible. It just means that person has different preferences than you.

Of course I swallow marketing, I love being marketed to. If you think that swallowing marketing is a gullible or idiotic thing to do for a marketer, how can you be in this business, let alone on this forum? Correct me if I'm wrong but the assumption one can draw from your post must be then you see yourself somehow deceiving your customers by using this evil "marketing".

And not that it matters, I wouldn't buy an Apple watch ever.

This post is pretty much spot on. Ive been in sales and marketing since I was 12 years old (most of that time) and I am probably the easiest guy to sell to. I love to be sold/marketed to. If they are good enough to get me to spend money, they are doing something very right.

If there was one thing I would change about your post it would be to change "preferences" to "realities". For many, the idea of spending $17k on a watch that will be obsolete in 2 years is ridiculous. But for others their "reality" doesn't even think about the money or the fact that the watch will be obsolete before he walks out of the store.

Apple's gold watch is worth its weight in gold to Apple. SO MUCH abuzz over a watch that Apple probably reckons to sell a few thousand of.

At some point people (99+% of whom would NEVER buy a $10,000 watch from anyone let alone Apple) will get curious and see that the actual watch Apple wants to sell costs, what, only $350? And its got apps? Apple is going to clean up.

On the local news last night they were hyping the gold watch with basically "there are so many apple fanatics, if only 20-30% bought this it would be huge numbers".

LOL

inb4 market is flooded with mini coopers and hipster star wars/action figures collections to free up money for rabid fans.

I think you're missing the difference between buying a product that delivers on its marketing and buying a product because of its marketing.

With Apple, they hit on the iPod. It was clearly best in class and innovative and all that. It's the only Apple product I've ever bought and I still happily use it 5+ years later (fuck iTunes with a spiked dildo though, for real). That's a case where I bought because it was the best product in its class and did what I wanted it to do. They marketed, and I bought. But I didn't buy because of some cult-like loyalty to a company.

When I look at shit like this Apple watch, or the last couple of iPhones, or the new Macbook with no ports and a weaker processor, what I see is a product that isn't as good as some other similar products but that people scoop up mainly because it is an Apple product. Paying more for an inferior product seems weird to me. I guess once you're in the Apple ecosystem though, you're kinda just in it. I respect the shit out of Apple for doing what they do, but the cultish behaviour around their products is odd.
