The gov filed a suit against Apple and then forced Apple to hire a shitty lawyer of the gov's choosing to defend them.

It's basically just a huge un-appealable fine but structured in this way so it appears to be at least somewhat constitutional.

Apple should've kept their holdings in bitcoin.
 
Customers paying premium prices for premium products from their own choosing is not the same as the government forcing you to employ someone for 10x what they would normally cost. (Who I doubt does a decent job).
 
Of course, when it comes to paying money, apple is stingy. So this serves it right. You lost the case, you have to abide by the decision. That's all there is to it. Don't cry now.. Should have thought about it when apple was making the secret deal with the publishers!

It is as fair as apple charging consumers and extra $100 for $5 of flash memory. So yeah, I do think it's fair. Why shouldn't the court look to claw back some of the money that Apple takes from consumers? $3.66 is roughly 1/1000 of taxes that Apple should be paying an doesn't

Oh the irony, 60% of all their profits come from worldwide sales and then the money gets routed thru ireland and luxembourg, and they end up paying 0% corporate tax on all that. They've more money to spend than developed governments end up with.
