Well, I'm ready to start jumping into arbitrage, despite all the buzz around new 7search ToS/policies, etc, but was hoping to get some feedback on my site design from users that are already doing arbi while [weneedsound] and I are working on our automation script to pull content from wikipedia/images from google/etc (we like to reinvent the wheel).

I'm moreso looking for some suggestions on things like ad placement/total ads/images placement/etc, as well as potential problems with design/flow/etc. We have no intention of tweaking this design until 'perfection' before launching, we are just going to jump right in and get started, but it's always good to get some criticism in so we have a good idea of a direction to work toward.

Domain info has been blurred, and as a test page I used everyone's favorite topic: mesothelioma! (har har!)

Check it out. (view design) (it's an image, so it may need to be clicked for 100% zoom)

maybe add some text in the blue bar at the top next to ads by google so that doesn't stick out so much?

Well personally, We would rather have visitors click the big square adsense ad instead of the link ads. The link ads are there to provide an alternate 'exit' from the site if they show no interest in the block ad.

Also too, I know it's hard to tell from the image, but there is text on the violator on the top right of the page which draws attention to itself. I imagine most viewers will see the logo (top left), scan to the violator (top right), then down to the links themselves, ignoring the Ads by Google text.

I dunno, i'm no expert but we'll see how our CTR is.

Edit: i can spell...

I would remove the arrow pointing to the Ads.

for what reason? I know it's sorta a grey area with google, but we're hoping it will increase CTR for ppl that may be banner blind to the spot the ads are in. plus it's light enough that it may not be noticed with a quick glance.

Nice. The design makes it look legit.

You might want to consider making the content text more difficult to read - either lighten it or change the font or both. It will encourage visitors to look for a way out.

Great suggestion.. out of curiosity, how acceptable is it to use back-button trapping on arbi sites? Would we be crossing the line with that?

the link ads pay for shit btw. then again you should always test and draw your own conclusions :)

My understanding was that you were being brought to a page full of sponsors that payed as much as adsense block/banner ads. Could you clarify about the link ads? Do they pay less or do they just convert to less clicks? I imagine that they would convert less because it's an extra click required, but do they pay less as well?

I'm pretty sure they pay less as well(from what I have seen). I took mine off cause they were taking clicks away from ad blocks.

What are you referring to? We were only throwing the idea around of trapping but never implemented it.

The arrow, that shit will get you a warning (best case) or banned. Technically the trapping is against TOS if you do not have any other escape links. But it's your account.
