Arbitrage and eBay

When you do this, how do you modify your Flexible Destination Link so it shows up like a normal website on 7 search instead of the long url given to you when you create the link?

Most advertisers on 7 search have a simple site address below the default description. Right now mine is rover.ebay.com/roverXXXXXXXXXXXXX (very long)

PHP redirect. Set up a subdomain or directory so your link in 7search is short and when they click it they are redirected to your rover.ebay.....

very cool. thanks for the link.

I ran 93 clicks through 7search, although cj only shows 44 at the moment
no conversions yet.. gonna wait 7 days to see if it worked at all

here's the problem, the cj code is an html link and an img that's used for tracking impressions
Im running it through a php redirect without a landing page, so the img never gets displayed (hence, no impressions)
Hopefully this wont be a problem, but I'll know within 7 days if it worked or not

I've just started a ebay campaign. I'm using adwords right now and the traffic is insane, but cj says I'm getting no impressions. I used the editor kit to create a landing page - 2 questions:

1. is there a way to direct link in adwords considering their quality score crap?

2. if I stick with the landing page, how do I get CJ to compute the clicks and impressions, or how long does it take them to post it? I'm freaking out that the landing page must not be converting to click thrus...

Possible problem in the Ebay arbitrage game.

You bid on the keyword widgets. A Person clicks and goes directly to ebay they get the 7 day cookie and they place a bid. Next day they search again and click on John Doe's widget1 ebay add and a few hours latter this person wins auction they bid under your affiliate code. Does the Ebay program work like most affiliate progams where the most current affiliate link gets the sale? In this case John Doe would get the sale since he was the most current affiliate to be clicked on and you would lose out?

I'm noticing a lot of keywords have ebay affiliates working on them. It's very likely a person will click on mulitple ebay affiliate links every day they search for things.

I did alright with it. Made almost $2k when the playstation was sold out everywhere. <-- think about it. When an item is sold out in stores where do people go to buy it? Playstation and the elmo tmx both did ok, but the reporting sucks. And you have to deal with CJ

I apologize in advance if I didn't catch this somewhere earlier in the thread but I'm trying to get some sleep before I get up for work in 4 hours. But what are the advantages of dealing with ebay through CJ over going straight through ebay?

don't think you can go straight through ebay - well maybe if you have high enough volume. ebay's affiliate pages link to cj, take a look. does even shoemoney go straight to ebay?

If you read that site you'll see the following:

Well, I just set up an AuctionAds landing page - and 1000 keywords in AdWords.

We'll see how it goes.

There are 2 benefits to having a landing site rather than linking directly to eBay that I can see.

1. Your quality score may be higher with a lainding site.

2. AuctionAds places you in the highest tier of eBay affiliate earnings.

#2 is the big one IMO:

Level 1: You earn 40% of eBay's revenue.
Level 8: You earn 65% of eBay's revenue.
Level 1: A new active registered user earns you $12.
Level 8: A new active registered user earns you $22.

If you wanted to get to the 8th Tier on your own you'd have to drive $1,000,000+ in eBay revenue a month. Whether you make more or less than linking directly to eBay depends on how much your QS will bring down your cpc and how high you can get your CTR. Won't know until you experiment.
