You also have a lot of page leaks. Do a search on WF for arbitrage and read through the threads to get an idea of what you should be doing.
damn. CM beat me to it. yea, too many page leaks and it looks too busy. also the ads aren't up high enough in my opinion. move them up more towards the top. put another ad in the second blue box, and move both blue boxes to the top.
remove the home,downloads,photography menu cuz thats where they eye goes first and put an ad in its place

what you have there is great for a charity site where you are not trying to make any money. but it fucking blows shit for trying to convert visitors into clicks.
i tried making a 'nice looking' site and it did much worse than my stupid ugly template - i take it because more people actually realize my ugly site is worthless and try to click out instantly...
my best performing site has some really good content in it though (well 500 words anyway)- so I wouldn't rule out making a nice 500 word article if you find a niche that is performing well, instead of keeping the scraped content.
