$250x265=$91,250; $70k isn't a great deal, but its not completely crazy; except for the copyrighted graphics and possible adsense violation I would say thats fair. It is also possible some of these sales are rigged.

I think its been proven many times that a site can have a shitty design and still be a top earner. Just look at plentyoffish or on a lesser scale my sites :1orglaugh:

I know, but its just amazing how they do.

There are 365 days in a year last time I checked :1orglaugh:

As for the sites selling for $70k.. I've got a lot of sites raking in a hell of a lot more than $250 a day from YPN/Adsense.. does that mean I should sell mine for $500k?

Hey, Andy's formula, not mine ;)

The general rule for site selling is about 12 months profit--but IMHO I think that's low. Yes, I'd probably use it as an argument when bartering, but if I buy a site I know that I'll probably improve some of the things I don't like about it, and try to get it to earn some better cash.

Actually, the general rule for selling out is 6-10 months of revenue/income. Anything more is just ridiculous, especially when the idea is not original. This is only for sites that have lots of competition and are unoriginal too. I think most people put too much focus on the cash amount they COULD POTENTIALLY get, and they also factor in the personal aspect, you know, how much the site means to meeeee, or "it's my baby". Well, in business, there is no personal aspect. All buyers see is "how can I maximize profits, pay off my original investment, and make big money on this?". They don't care if you want to molest your site. As long as it makes them money and recoups the cost they invested as quickly as possible, that's all they want to see. That's why 6-10 months at most is the most realistic way to sell something, anything less and you're underselling yourself, anything more, and you're taking a risk of losing the upperhand in the deal. Stay in the middle boys and girls. 6-10 months. That's it.

A site being worth 12 months' revenue seems excessive in this day and age... a year is a long time on the ol' Internet right now; things change just too fast.

Risky buy.

Assuming the traffic is legit and will stay...you better hope that adsense / yahoo don't start banning this type of site.
I believe it was hell of a risky buy looking at the screen shot of adsense for april for $250/day, not up to date, month to month info april - june. Not only that, he could seriously spent far less money to create that similar site and advertise it himself. It is so easy to advertise myspace resource site.. He(seller) could surely used ppc to drive in that traffic for couple of months to show legit info.. than sell the site off. I wish only best for the buyer, feel bad for him to spend that kind of money.. what a newbie.. hopefully he knows what he is doing and what he got himself in to. It was very quick impulse buy.. looked at the $$$ sign and jumped the gun.

It is excessive.. $70K.. holy cow.. I can't believe that was sold. Who ever bought the site sure did have that kind of money. There are many people who are starting to come online, getting involved in online businesses. They don't know much as you and I and rest of wickedfire people.. people learn from their mistakes.. sometimes you have to learn it the hard way.. $70K ouch! Just imagine you could used that $70K to create 1,000 myspace resource sites... thats worth some experiment.
The buyer will go down as newbie of the year 2006! Good for the seller.. he made $70K + ~$15K previous week. What a payday.. good for him.

The highest bid on the myspace sites just went up to 71k? what the hell.
