Are Secure "Seals" Worth Getting? (e.g. McAfee, Norton, Truste, Thawte, BBB, etc...)

Anyone know of any good fakeass secure seals that you can snag for free...without...you know...going to fiver and having one made :/

Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. I've even seen them decrease conversion. The only true way to know is to test.

a very very wise man I know wrote an article all about this topic on Moz:

Nielson Norman group also has done a number of studies on this topic over the years.

Some say they help.

Some say they don't.

Some say more than 2 seals make it worse.

Test test test.

In all honesty it doesn't matter what we think. You have to test it on your site and see if there is an increase in your end goal. You know how many tests I have run that I thought would work out one way and ended up working out entirely different?

Like Meatytreats said, run a test w/o paying for the logos and see if they increase your conversions before you drop any money on them.http://www.wickedfire.com/members/meatytreats.html

I just made a fake seal and called it 'VSafe - 100% Secure' and put it on a site, 6% conversion increase LOL
