I read (and for the life of me can't remember where I found this) that Craigslist is starting to try to get individual affiliates shutdown who spam their boards with the job offer --> email autoresponder --> 3rd tier job site CPL offer stuff that had been making some people a couple hundred a day.

Anybody able to confirm?

The way I understood to do it to be safe was do an autoresponder with a gmail account and tell people they needed to follow your link to signup for the application, and you posted your ad to CL using a proxy so they couldn't shitcan your IP.

Anybody still finding success with that approach? It would be a fairly resource intensive task to police the offers to that level but I imagine they just have an intern or something report the offending affiliate ID to the merchant and send a nasty legal letter.
 


Graigslist was already hunting affiliates few years ago! There are always people finding different ways to promote their stuff...
 
self proclaimed anarchist my-ass (CEO of craigslist) getting flagged and banned is pretty much black magic.. i dont spam affiliate offers (but i realllllly should start) but i use it for other stuff and can never pinpoint why anything gets flagged..
 
Odd timing but just came across this article on Consumerist.com. Alright, fess up, which one of you idiots got caught and is calling attention to this?

Apparently instead of a zip submit, someone got greedy and went with a credit check program.
 
^^^Honestly that shit pisses me off. No wonder you have the Nazi flaggers and CL trying to take down the AM's with shit like that.

I"m just trying to make an (semi) honest buck. I actually try to offer semi-quality stuff. Certainly nothing that would be illegal or scams. But then pond scum like that come along breaking the law and getting everyone to look at all of us like we all do that shit....
 
I replied to CL xbox offer once , after sending an email , i got a quick reply saying i won the xbox and i neeed to click on so on so link to qualify. I opened the page it was from NBA , i sent an email about the ad , page and autoresponder email to my AM to shutdown his account.... So , its better not to SPAM CL , there are a lot of Webmasters too looking out for some or the other thing ;)

Yeah lets trash people who don't break Craigslist's incredibly reasonable TOS and possibly anti spam laws. Affiliate spammers are ruining a free, valuable and great service for everyone by promoting their crap on it. There are plenty of legitmate ways to make money AM, try to follow the social contract this country was founded on.
