A lot of people put backlinks to their sites in their signature on forums. On certain forums I have a lot of posts (that I post on leisurely not for backlinks), but if i put all my sites backlinks in my signature would that be a lot of backlinks?

Lol I had trouble writing that.. let me know if it's too confusing

Your backlinks would equal your posts. Is that a lot? You tell us.

But remember, many forums are nofollow or a hop in the sigs, so they might
all add up to nothing.

I have over a thousand posts on this one forum, with nothing in my signature. I assume no hop means that the forum doesn't allow html in their signatures?

No follow means the search engine spiders are told to not follow the link...so you do not get credit for it..since the spider never makes it to your site.

is it common for the site to say whether you can follow the link?

Well you only have to include this if you don't want Google to follow it, otherwise it is automatically followed. And, yes it is very common, so you have to make sure the links are "follow".

Do not worry if the forum sig links are ''no follow''

I advise to go ahead and put your links there
because that will help boost your credibility
and will also get human visitors to your site
