I would go in the drop of a hat if the price weren't so expensive. I looked over all the info about ASW and it all looks very cool...but can anyone give me some specific examples of a benefit they took from ASW? something to make it worth the price.

i get that contacts and meeting people are very important...but is it really worth the amount?...not trying to be cheap here...just dont have a grand to spend quite yet.

Worth 10 x's the ticket price and cost to get there. ESPECIALLY for a new affiliate. It'll change your perspective on the industry as a whole. Guarantee'd

trust me i wanna go...trying to make it happen...

any specifc reasons it is so valuable for a newb?

I spent around 2k back in august to get myself to ASE. I made that money back many, many times over in the weeks/months since ... using the ideas, relationships and motivation I picked up in Boston.

I'm shelling out the cash to get to ASE from Australia in August (not doing ASW because I'm only 20 and getting married in March so I have no money). If you have any hopes of taking your affiliate marketing to the next level you will make sure you go.

You can watch the sessions online after the event, so the only thing you're missing out on is the networking if you don't go.

A big reason for a lot of people is just because it's a pretty sweet vacation that you can write off

I have been to each ASE/ASW and AdTech (NY,SF,Chi) the last 4 years and never been to a session/key note. Networking and meeting people face to face is the true value in these trade shows.

I'm recently back to AM after about 4-5 years away from it, so I'm starting at a clean slate. I'm going to ASW strictly based on what I've heard from people I trust in this community - and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

In my experience, at events like these you need to:

1) Determine what your primary goals

2) Figure out the "right" people to network with, based on the knowledge you're looking to obtain, looking to share, and friendships you're looking to make.

3) Find those people, walk up to them and say hello.

If you're outgoing and ready to make some new friends, you're going to have a blast at ASW. At least I know I am!

id say its best for the motivation. you see all these retarded douche bags walking around buying expensive stuff so you know affiliate marketing must be easier than you thought.

ASE this year in Boston was the first conference I ever attended. I had been doing AM full time for about 2 years at that point, but had about 5 years total experience. The reason it took me so long to attend is because I thought I had all the connections I needed, and felt like going out there would be a waste of money.

True story- I planned on staying in Boston for 3 days...but I got in the car and started driving home after I was there for like 12 hours because I had so many ideas going on in my head that I was dying to get home and put them in place and bank on them.. Being around other affiliates increased my motivation by 1000%. For me, that alone made the cost of the trip worth it.

On top of that, you'd really be suprised at how cool the people from WF can be in person. On my way to ASE, I only had 1 or 2 people that I planned on meeting up with at the conference. Once I met up with them, I was introduced to a ton of other people who I still talk to today. It's pretty cool having friends who actually understand what we do.

Networking opportunities are phenomenal at these types of events. I literally make 20+ new good friends after I go to one of these events. People I would have never "clicked" with otherwise.

Damn it, I met Jon at Summit SocialMedia and found out he's as big of a dick in real life as he is on the interwebs :) - I kid, you da man.

AS* is worth the money. I've gone to ASE Boston, Miami and now ASW Vegas. Literally, my income will double with each conference. You always learn new stuff.

But besides that... I think theres gona be some funny shit at this one ;)
