Best way to integrate a forum to WordPress?

Basically I'm thinking of adding a forum to this WordPress website of mine. I want both databases to work together (registration needs to be streamlined).

I've looked into a few forum plugins for WordPress but I wasn't really impressed... they seemed "too basic" and easy for spammers to rape.

What is the best way of doing this?

Plugin? (if yes, which one?) vBulletin? phpBB? (are these 2 easy to integrate with WP?)

I need something that is:
- SEO-friendly
- Feature rich
- Strong anti-SPAM features

wow $140 for a license? Is it THAT much better than bbpress and simple-press? (which are both free)
