I don't know where to post this, so hopefully this is the right place to do it.

I have some friends that are DJs and I want to start getting their music noticed. I want to start having them show up on all thedjlists, blogs etc.

What i want to do is manipulate something like: thedjlist.com so that they start ranking near the top, this means that they need to get something like 80,000 unique votes to compete.

I always see posts of people that do things similar, like 200 diggs or something from unique users. Would this be the best way to go about it? Hire someone to create accounts and to manipulate the results?

DO you think this is something that could be automated and not noticeable by the websites?

Thanks for your help.

I can think of a few blackhat methods off the top of my head. But if you want to get to the top legit...

Make a landing page, put up some music samples and pictures and what not. Drive traffic to it and just ask the visitor to vote for the DJ.

playing out at clubs and parties/events is the way to get noticed. no club owner or promoter is ever going to pay a dj based on a mix they heard on the internet. they need to know the dj can work an actual crowd. playing at home and playing in front of thousands of people are two different things. good djs build up their reputations by playing out, not sending mixes around on the internet.

They are booked 3 days a week+. They headline events and open for fairly big acts. I am more basing this on getting them even more of a kick based on things like hypem and djlist as they will get more global notice and easier to get them events when you can say, oh well he is top 10 in the DJ list, how can you NOT know him.

I am thinking of doing it black hat style. So any suggestions are welcome.

Also, I used to dj about 5 years ago, and got booked solely on the fact I had new mixes every week and they were on DI.fm. So Jenzkc, your kinda wrong, but thanks for your input.

I would take a look at getting their mixes on all the mix sites like newmixes.com, submitting the mixes in the forums for whatever genre they spin, and take a look at discobelle.net. Getting listed on there should bring a lot of attention, as well they are part of the largest mp3 blog network. You'll be able to find a lot of other sites to get noticed on.

Thanks Ryan! I will be doing that for sure. These DJs are actually from the Vancouver(ish) area.

Thanks again for the advice.
