"A few days ago HBO released a new trailer for Martin Scorcese and Terence Winter’s (Sopranos' Key Writer) upcoming series Boardwalk Empire, starring Steve Buscemi. The series chronicles the life and times of Nucky Thompson, the undisputed ruler of Atlantic City, who was equal parts politician and gangster. Buscemi plays Thompson who according to the trailer is “the county treasurer but he lives like a Pharaoh” and essentially runs the majority of Atlantic City in the Prohibition Era.

I don't see how this can fail, with Scorcese and Winter involved, and Buscemi in the lead. It hasnt been hyped up enough though, I just found out about it, anyone else hear anything?

First I've heard about it, but period stuff like this is where Scorsese is best, definitely looking forward to it.

This show looks like its going to be pretty sweet. Real excited hoping it lives up to the expectations I have for it.

yeah he did so well with Gangs of New York // end sarcasm

I heard this is a really violent show, some disturbing scenes to look forward to. Got the popcorn ready, kids have been kicked out of the living room for the night.

Gangs of New York was bad-fucking-ass. If you didn't like it, you probably enjoy Twilight and network sitcoms.

it was DiCaprio and Diaz in "take the money and dont bother acting" mode. Daniel Day-Lewis was pretty bad ass though, however you could put him in any movie and hell steal the show.

Let's see what he has done well with:

Shutter Island
The Departed
Casino
Mean Streets
Goodfellas
Raging Bull
Gangs of New York (oooh we agree // end sarcasm)
Taxi Driver
Bringing out the Dead
The Aviator
The Last Temptation of Christ

Even if you didn't like Gangs of New York, or Out of Time, or Kundun, or a few other of his weaker ones Scorsese has had such a prolific career and influence on film making that he can brick a few and still be one of the top 3 directors in American cinema.

Now you can go back to watching Notting Hill or whatever romcom director gets your sphincter puckered. kisses.

I think Dicaprio did okay... but yeah, Daniel Day-Lewis made the movie. Anything with him is grade-A movie watchin'. The entire reason I even like the movie is because of him.

How could anybody say Gangs of NY sucked? It was no Goodfellas, but it was a specific period piece, and he kicked ass with it. It was a bit too long, if there's any criticism that's got to be it, but shit, with DDLewis in the movie, you can never get enough.

How does one attempt to knock down one of the greatest director's of all time by throwing THAT movie up for debate?

man Wahlberg is an executive producer on this one as well.. the guy is hustlin his ass off

can't wait to see it
