Since people have been posting up a few know your rights videos lately.

This is a MUST SEE!
It's called Busted - Surviving Police Encounters It has gotten me out of some serious jams before. I made everyone i live with watch it, and i made my little sister watch it before she moved away to college. Do the same, and program in the hot line number they give into your cell phone.

Dude fucking thanks, i drive a taxi on weekends in raleigh and this bitches are all over pulling over people like flies. Damn this guys pack their cars right behind clubs waiting for some poor chick that just got dumped by their boyfriend and decides to drive home semi drunk.
Damn i have witnessed some of this guys have 20 drops(stopping people for random stupid shit) in 2 hours just because some radio station decided to hold some event downtown and they are not too happy with that.
Sure i might be miscontrued and yeeah i know some of these people deserve it, but more often than not we put ourselves in jams and give police officers more to work with than we should have.
I had some cop pull me over in alabama 2 years ago and had me open my trunk, fuck that shithead . Deliguy seriously thanks man. Sometimes i carry people in my car and once in a while i might get pulled over, knowing that we live in the real world and that if the mafia wanted to get to me not even jack bauer could save my ass(i dont beleive in that fake f.b.i shit) i would hate to be in a jam where some poor guy i dont know gets arrested and then have to start dodging bullets.
I need a new job lol . Again thanks deli. :)

what i would wonder though is if i had someone in my car and the police officer asked me to get out, would i have to leave my passengers in the car and lock the doors too. A grey area i know but i have this blind lawyer i drive around boy we are going to have alot to talk about tommorow morning.
Yes i drive a blind lawyer around. lol daredevil.

I have a feeling this is going to help me out immensely in the coming months before i quit driving this grand marquir around with half drunk college students.
The thing i have seen, omfg the things i have seen, the real world is a bitch, you only truly get to know a real person when you have talked to them drunk.

I originally saw that video because my brother is a detective in washington. When I was a kid he came to visit back when my town had a really dirty police force. The moment he got off the freeway he got trailed and then backup was called and three other cars followed him all the way to my driveway. He was so pissed me gave me a book written by the same organization that made that video and made me read it. The first line was "citizens actually have more rights than police officers do." and it talked about most of the stuff in the video. It really saved my ass a couple times through junior high and high school.

The dirty force eventually got shitcanned because they got in a competition over who could pull over a guy who wrote a bad check first, and one of the officers decided the fastest way to pull him over was to run him off the road and they ended up killing him. It just happened that a state sheriff was passing by on the freeway and heard the commotion over the radio and decided to check in. He told the city sheriffs to call off the hunt for the guy when he heard everyone competing over finding him, but the city sheriff told him no and that they were going to get that guy. Bad move :)

I"m a strong promoter of excersizing your rights. I don't give a shit if I'm not doing anything wrong or if I "have anything to hide." No cop gets me to give up a civil right. I'm cool with cops and I respect what they do, but like the video says "they are not your friend or your allie. They are there to aid in the prosecution of you."

Yes, but every time they say "police" in the movie replace it with "mounties" and whenever they say "car" in the replace it with the word "horse"

I'm joking of course, don't fuck with the mounties, they're good people. :)

Haven't watched the video yet, but, a quick tip...

Cops never know what they're getting into when they pull someone over. With all due respect, it's a scary job... even a homely looking grand mother could pull a gun, shoot and run.

They must be especially cautious in the dark of the night. So, if you get pulled over at night, turn the interior dome lights on and put both hands on the steering wheel so they can easily see inside your car and that you're making every attempt to cooperate. This little gesture makes the task much easier on them, and they'll probably be much more polite and courteous to you in return.

That tip is actually in the video. I'm very glad I watched it.

I love the acting. LOL

Haha, is that what they call it? yeah definitely Oscar award winning material! It reminds me of those cheesy after-school specials they used to run.

My 2 favorite lines of the movie...

1. When the female and male officer arrive at the girls house party at the 32:00-min mark in the video. The cops are inside the house and the male cop glances over and sees a bong on the floor and picks it up. The female cop says, "what you got there, Mark? He says, "wow, look at this" ....(then takes a huge whiff off the bowl, then hesitates... and says, "smells fresh". (the way he delivered the line was just hilarious!)

2. The narrator says, "...that's right, getting busted is no party" lol, love it!

When I was in college, I was taking a weekend trip and in out of the middle of no where someone had their brights in my rear view mirror. Scared the hell outta me, so I sped up. After I topped 75 (back then it was 55 on the HWY) the cop turned on his blue lights. (As a FEMALE) I was STUPID to get out of the car at 2AM - didn't think a thing about it until afterwords. Fortunately it was a legit cop - but he wanted to run me in for an expired insurance. In Florida our insurance cards show the EFFECTIVE date - and not an expiration date. I had to politely show the officer like 6 times that it was an effective date. (I was in Georgia - just outside of Valdosta . ('nuff said)

Scared the sheeets outta me though. Thanks for the video tips.

Ha, Watched this last night and shortly after one of my hosting accounts was suspended for a AUP violation.

Pissed me off because my sites are all clean, the "Abuse" going on was the hosting abuse staff harassing me.

Took the attitude direct from the video that I have done nothing wrong and ask in each mail when they will reinstate my account.

After 3 exchanges and finding I was receiving more attitude than fact back from the host as the abuse staff could not point out exactly what file/directry/page was actually in violation, I got the answer delete the domain in full or we will cancel your account within 1 hour.

The simple statement of "Please escalate this to your supervisor" worked wonders, account reactivated within 30 minutes.

It was very tempting to just move the site to other hosting and forget about it to clear the item but after seeing this I was in the stand up for my rights mode.

It helps to deescalate a bit when dealing with issues.

A quick "delete" of a complete email rant written to the tech at my host, and a nicer rewrite a few hours later saved me a good working relationship.

Good point. A friend of mine had such dark tinted windows that the policemen freaked when he didn't do this.

He was actually a doofus anyways.

I'm not a fan of the ACLU at all, but this is the first good thing I've seen come from them/someone related to them. Thanks for the post, this is good info that everyone needs to know.

It's also a good idea to never drive with contraband in the car...

Here's the fucken deal on this shit. I live in the US and we are protected by our constitution and civil rights but anyone who has been in our "system" knows that it's all a crock of shit.

Example:

Cops come to my pad and request entry because they have a report I'm growind weed from my ex-wife. I say, no, where is your search warrant etc.
They end up cuffing me and throwing me on the ground with witness's and they gain entry unlawfully and without consent.

Now I'm locked up in the county jail and the cops charge me with every crime in the book (because they know they fucked up) and had my bail at $250,000. They said I was a flight rish, so it had to be cash and not the normal 10%. So I was stuck in county jail and I was going to fight these mother fuckers and win based on an illegal search and seizure.

Well aftert sitting in a dungeon for a few months and your facing 10 years if you loose at trial. Cops word over mine. In case you didnt know, cops win on the stand 99.9% of the time. They knew they fucked up but they had me by the balls.

After so many months and many months before a trial, they offer a plea bargain for 2 years prison. I take the deal because I had to or else sit in county and risk doing 12.

Where I came form the county has a 98.9% conviction rate and it's for these very same tactics. Does that mean they were all guilty? No they took the deal because they had to or it made the best sense.

Our court system is a complete joke.

The facts are that cops will do what the fuck they want and get away with it 99.9% of the time and your rights dont mean shit!
