So Lenovo fixed all those fuckups with the 2nd generation X1 carbons and this 3rd gen looks FUCKING AWESOME.

I'm in SE until the summer so, should I get it in Singapore on my next visa run or buy it in the US and have my mom ship it to me?

Like, is it cheaper to buy Lenovos in Singapore than in the US? Anyone know?

If you're going to spend that kind of coin, why not get the NEC LaVie Z? It weighs less than 2 pounds and will probably last longer.

Right now, it's only sold in Japan:

Dynamism - NEC LaVie Z

However, it looks like a version will be available in the US:

Sales Tax in Singapore is 7.5%. If you are a tourist, who buys something for more than IIRC SG$100 at a participating retailer, you can claim that back.

That information is widely available on the internet.

The only reason to buy a laptop in Singapore as opposed to the United States is that you want it sooner rather than later.

Prices for just about all consumer electronics are significantly more expensive in Singapore than in the United States.

There is no harm in checking out the prices in Singapore, but what you will likely find are higher prices and poor exchange policies, e.g., for dead pixels. Same is true in Thailand...

If your mother ships the laptop from the US to Thailand, be prepared to pay import taxes, which I would imagine will could be quite high (they are something like 23% in Cambodia - don't know about Thailand). Check out the import tax for laptops for Thailand and the cost of shipping and make a decision.

buy from US because in singapore they may montage equipment in another country such as viewtname or India but in US it will be montage in US intself or Canada
