Buying from own aff links

I'm sure it's being done, whether it's ok or not, but what do the networks say about using your own affiliate links to purchase or participate in offers?

I'm talking about legit purchases, not taking advantage of email or zip offers.

Nobody cares if you buy something through your own affiliate link.

You are being paid a percentage to provide a sale. You've provided a sale. Collect your percentage. Why would they care? More money for them.

Now, leads are a different story....

I know that at least Tradedoubler says its ok to do. So I have done it. Repeatedly. I earned more from buying my iMac through my link than buying it with student rebate.

I do it all the time.

I order hosting accounts through my own CJ hostgator links. I ordered my Comcast internet, DirecTV, and some other things through my own CJ links last time I moved. I ordered Netflix and Lingo VOIP through my own LinkShare account. If I plan to get a new credit card, bank account, or just about anything else, I look for an affiliate link first now.

In Denmark, at least, Apple is with Tradedoubler. And it was a straight aff-link from my site to the Danish Apple-shop. Of course I went to the education-shop and got both the student-rebate and the commission

I do it all the time - usually check the terms first, most are ok with it.

I always make sure it's my cookie when I buy from eBay (good for cars!), and the recent uk2 thing was great (£10 off coupon = free domain + a few quid commission per domain... wish I'd got more than 30!)

I remember, once upon a time, some site gave out $5 amazon gift certificates if you signed up your email to their newsletter. This was while you could still stack certificates at Amazon.
I got a lot of good books, a fat check and a large Amazon coffee mug for christmas for being such a good customer. All completely free.
