Can I get affiliate network to approve application with no experience?

I am new as well. AffiliateBot, RevenueAds, and Qwik Media all has a pretty simple approval process. I told them I was new and my simple marketing plans and they approved me with no problem. I am in the process of applying to a4d as well, hopefully I'll get approve soon. Good luck to you!

As a noob, I just wanted to chime in with my experience so far with Affiliate approval...

Like the OP, I too went through the NickyCakes guide (as well as Jon Volks). One of the first steps that both guys mentioned was to get approval from a few affiliates. I thought this was a little odd, as how are you going to get approved when you don't even have a website? I applied anyway, and sent apps to the following:

Epic Direct Net (former Azoogle I guess?)
NeverBlue
MediaTrust
Ads4Dough
ClickBank

In my apps, I explained that I am new to AM but want to get my start using Facebook ads, while I also develop a blog on the side promoting nutrition/weight loss (very original, I know!).

Anyway, Neverblue denied me right away, and I haven't heard from Epic Direct or Media Trust yet. ClickBank approved me right away of course, and Ads4Dough called me this morning (Gina I think?).

I have to admit, I felt pretty stupid talking to Gina. She asked me if I had a website, and I told her no but I just signed up for WordPress and am working on it. She asked me what my plan for developing traffic was, and I wasn't really ready for a good answer. I mumbled some stuff about creating EzineArticles and possibly buying some traffic, but I'm sure I sounded like a total idiot. She told me I needed to get some experience before I could get an account with them. Fair enough, but I asked her how am I supposed to develop a website when I don't even know what offers I might be promoting? She basically said it doesn't matter, get some experience and apply again.

I must admit I'm kind of bummed and frustrated by the call this morning, but I also see her point. I can only imagine the kind of idiots these guys must deal with on a daily basis, and the only way to prevent doing business with them is to have a rigorous screening process. I'm meeting up with an experienced mentor tomorrow (a former classmate from college) for my first meeting, so I'm hoping to formulate a plan with him and go from there.

But yeah, getting approved by ANs is not NEARLY as easy as it sounds on the NickyCakes or JV guides. But on the positive side, I have learned something new... As long as I'm learning something new every day, I'm meeting my initial goal!

Yeah we are all real people here and most will let you in if they think there is a potential for growth. As long as the person making the call feels comfortable you are a real ethical person and not someone getting paid to let some Easter Block hacker approved into his network because he no speaka any English you should be good. Pick up the phone, be persistent and be honest. Since you are so new don't be afraid to show all your cards on how you will drive traffic.

For now, I just want to work on SEO... More for the education than anything else.

If you are going to work SEO, I'd suggest getting a site up with a little bit of content on it before applying. Technically, it doesn't matter, but it will give you something else to talk about when you are asked how you plan to market. Talk about your site, how you are ranking it, and why you think it will be a good fit with whatever offer you want to run on it. Don't be afraid to tell them that you are new, many networks will understand this. If you can communicate the fact that you are not looking to scam the network, and you are not going to waste their time, you should be fine.

Affiliate networks go begging for affiliates. Don't know where the hype began that its hard to get approved.

Your problem isnt that you are new, it's that most people (99%) that sound like you are from Russia, India, China and are just trying to send hitbot traffic mixed in with fake form submits.

Correction. "Affiliate networks go begging for GOOD affiliates."

I stepped into a network filled with a bunch of fraudulent garbage publishers looking to make a quick buck by sending the fraudulent traffic they studied so hard to learn how to run without getting caught. I was wishing 3/4 of them never signed up because I spent months cleaning them out.

Even so 80% of ethical pubs don't do jack shit. Anyone here that knows anything about the AM game will vouch for the 80-20 rule. But that is still 20% of your traffic so ethical pubs are always welcome.
