Cease and Desist email

So I just checked an email that I rarely use and I have a cease and desist message. They also included images of the website. This is the bulk of the email:
Accordingly, demand is hereby made upon you to immediately cease and desist any use of (popular persons) name, likeness and signature with regard to the Programs and/or any advertising and print materials related thereto, as well as any reference to (popular person) whatsoever. Should you not comply with this demand on a forthwith basis, and no later than five (5) business days after the date hereof by providing reasonable proof to the undersigned of your compliance, (popular person) has instructed our firm to take such further action against you, and all of your affiliated parties, without further notice, and we shall seek, to the fullest extent provided by law, such provisional relief and damages, as are permissible.

All rights and remedies of (popular person) are expressly reserved, and nothing heriein shall be deemed a waiver or relinquishment thereof.

The website has fake whois information so the name and address are made up. The only thing that is legit is the email.

I have replaced the images of the person (it's been 6 days, I rarely check this email).

Should I respond to their email?
 


If you took down the content they were complaining about, then just archive it and move along with your life.

Nah don't respond. You do not have to worry until you get a certified letter. They cannot do anything to you until they do that first. Emails do not count. And since your whois info is fake then you will never get the letter :).

Now they could then complain to your registrar and have the domain deactivated because of the fake info. But since the images are gone they will not spend anymore time with it. Unless you really pissed them off.

If you are gonna reply then, I like the suggestion above. Simply state that the images have been removed and post a link for them to click to verify it.(ofcourse forward it to the dickroll).

You could always just Screw Em. I mean really a celebrity is going to get your site taken down for some pictures? What about the billions of other ones on the web.
 
It's usually just easier to take it down & swap those photos than deal with possible legal action. If you're paying for web hosting, you're traceable - plain & simple.
