Would you recommend:
  1. Stretching layers to screen in Dreamweaver
  2. Fixed pixel content section, centered in layers
  3. Fixed pixel content section, aligned left
  4. Buy CSS Template
Each has it's own significant negative:
  1. Compromises layout of pictures/text
  2. Hard to align vertical banners/nav with content section
  3. Blank space on right for larger screens
  4. Minimal flexibility
With the first 3, my sites are hand made and not exactly beautiful/professional looking. Using fixed pixel, how wide would you make your content so it could be seen on vast majority of monitors without scrolling?

I'm about to start a big project and don't want to have to rework hundreds of pages because my layout blows and I want another one! Recommendations (with example links) would be greatly appreciated. Also, how do you think a decision like this affects ROI?

I do fixed pixel for most of my sites black macbook link
the max you can fit on a 800x640 resolution is around 780px

I'd recommend using CSS for most of the styling because it'll be easier to change it later on. it all depends on how much time you want to spend on coding it now vs re-coding it later.
