ok, this would probably make myself a couple hundred-thousands, but i am totally focused on something else, so i leave it all to you to realize this wonderful business case and get rich quick ;)

i need a chat simulator.

by chat simulator i mean a chat-like program, that actually pretends that people are busy talking in a chat channel while in fact all that is happening is, that a scripted conversation takes place between some avatars.

these avatars now of course promote the product i am trying to sell by dropping then and now MY aff-link for visitors to click on. they discuss the pro's and con's of the product i am promoting and so on and so on. to spice things up, i would record then real irc-channels and let those conversations run in between to simulate a real live environment.

now, this little app would have to react of course onto certain keywords and reaction coming from side of my "real" visitors. but just basic stuff, like "hello <nickname" and some occasional question or profane statement.

what do you think? would this be able to leverage some promotional offers?

anyone who KNOWS about such a product already being available?

The only thing I can think of are those "chat bots" that log into yahoo chat rooms. I don't think they ever accomplished anything as clever as what you are wanting, though.

If you are referring to IRC.... somebody could just ping your fake users and realize they are all coming from the same IP.... provided you run it all from one machine....

Also, what if somebody tries to jump into a pre-recorded conversation and they dont get a response... they may find it rude and not want to listen to their product suggestions?

i said, i would record some irc communications and "replay" them in my cat simulator.

as i said, i want the simulator to be intelligent enough to reply with something profane if a real user types something in. like "hello". because most people give shit anyhow if you are just new in a chat. but maybe he will overhear "their" conversation and click on the links they mention.

and hell yeah, i could do that with flash. or maybe c#. but i just don't develop or program so i won't. that's what the whole thread was about.

chucktown got it very close, those bots are interesting and there are even some chat simulation environments out there. i will get myself a quote from rent-a-coder to see what this might cost.
