One of my now ex-friends was taking a ride with me today in my beloved H2 and I hit a bump. He was in the middle of rolling down the window as he lit a cig, and the bump caused his hand to bounce up on the ceiling cloth and leave a nice burn hole, which goes into the fabric pretty deep.

Did some research today and called a few local upholstery dealers.. they're all telling me cloth is not fixable, only vinyl through a patch kit, and I need to replace the ENTIRE ceiling of the car, which one dealer quoted me at over $1200.

I call bullshit. There has to be a way to fix this so it isnt really noticeable. I was thinking of taking a piece off from behind the visor thats the same size and gluing it on.

Anybody ever successfully fixed a cig burn in their car cloth? Didn't there used to be a patch on one of those TV commercials that fixes this type of thing?

nope sorry mark gonna have to get the whole thing replaced or just ride around with a hole in the ceiling, try it with teeth marks from a dog.

Yeah you need to redo it. $1200 is insane. You can do it yourself for less than $100 or call an upholstery shop should be a few hundred maybe 300 max to redo it.

AUTO SALVAGE.... someone's got a seat in a wrecked car somewhere! car-part.com is the best i think.

put a tv up there and have the corner of it over the cig burn so you get to make the best of the situation

Don't pay the dealer. Take out the headliner and take it to an upolstery shop, have it recovered in Suede, Leather, Alcantra, or other nicer fabric for a fraction of the cost. You could "patch" it but I think it'd just make it more obvious.

I'd take an Xacto knife, and cut it out square, then, using the salvage idea here get an piece of fabric and splice it in. Depending on how tight the fabric is on the ceiling this might work. However, if it's really tight, you're fucked.

Talk to a furniture store, they will either have someone that can fix it or tell you a quality place to take it to. Believe it or not the best place around here to get a convertible top replaced is at a particular furniture shop.
