Content Network strategy: straight from big G

would totally make sense the only time i've ever had success with GCN (and i totally suck with it) was running small 5-10 word adgroups. i tried a whole bunch of different adgroup strategies and that worked the best. my keyword source was different but the results were very similar in nature and repeated over various campaigns.

thanks for the tip with the wheel, i'm off to break out my curl classes.

Wasn't familiar with this tool. Great post. Could definitely do me good in my SEO.

Yes! I think this tool would me more valuable for SEO than for PPC ad grouping.

I think google is moving more towards analyzing semantics of a page vs. specific keyword phrases. This tool gives you great ideas of how to group content on a website that google views related b/c of types of content.

So instead of just keyword stuffing pages, you can get ideas for the types on content you should be writing to help your SEO efforts for the main "anchor" keyword of the wonder wheel group.

So in the OP's example, if you wanted to optimize for Jesus Christ, you can search that term in the wonder wheel and then write content for all the related suggestions. That may get you further then writing 10 articles that keyword spam the name "Jesus Christ"

anyway, good find @OP and good thinking @amirdash

EDIT: Yeah, didn't realize you were talking about CONTENT NETWORK ad grouping. I think you have a good point there. I originally thought you were talking about search. Need more sleep...

The point is - wonder wheel works in a similar way to how G determines the "topic" of any given page, but the other way around, sort of answering the question "what keywords would describe given adgroup if my main keyword is widget"..
...

If this could be automated somehow, that'd be mega-cool imo.
You mean something like this:

KeywordThinkTank.com_demo1
KeywordThinkTank.com_demo2

For some reason, no one can explain why using only one keyword in an ad group isn't the most optimal way.

Why is it better to create an ad group with 5 tightly focused keywords than to create 5 ad groups with one keyword in each of them -- using the same set of keywords.
