Seriously, WTF?

The dog wasn't even moving anymore when the guy decides to shoot her.

Also, fot the cop lovers:
I am NOT saying all cops are assholes. Those two seem to be, though.

99% of cops that you come in contact with ARE assholes. The other 1% just had a glazed donut and are in high spirits for a little bit.

They're not the ones who made the call to do it. They called up the chain and were either ordered to shoot the dog or got permission from their higher-ups.

Not like they just woke up that morning and decided, "Hey, I hope I get to shoot a dog today."

just lol tbh.

seriously, is that how you understand things? that two cops had to call up the chain on how to deal with a dog that didnt want to be restrained (99.999% of dogs wont make this easy), so you're telling me that cops shoot every dog that requires a bit more patience with... pathetic to say the least.

so many other options on how to deal with this, but typical "cop" mentality would appear to be if they cant deal with it in 5 mins, kill it.

I don't even know what to say to the stupid shit you posted above. Other than a basic STFU and GTFO.

Dude that is pathetic... First they had the dog on a chain and he wasn't going anywhere. Then he managed to get the dog on the stick (not close enough to him to bite him)....

It certainly doesn't look like an American Bulldog. I looked a LOT more like a boxer, stafford or pitbull but that doesn't matter and should be completely beside the point. The dog was not being aggressive to them UNTIL they put the stick on him.. The dog naturally felt threatened and freaked out.

Isn't that exactly what the SPCA or the US equivalent is for to handle these issues and take them into a safe place until the owner arrives. If he doesn't show then put him down...

What is pathetic is a bunch of people judging events that they were not involved in, based solely on a 6 minute video. Some of you are saying it would be good if the police officers involved should be injured or killed because they shot a dog?!?! That's ridiculous.

1. According to the article, the video is actually over 60 minutes long.

2. There is no sound, so you don't know what the officers are saying to dispatch on their radios or on their cell phones. So it is very likely that they were ordered to shoot the dog, and didn't just decide to do it for the hell of it. If they shot the dog without prior instruction, there would have be an investigation into it.

3. You don't know what the history of the dog was, only that it had been growling at neighbor kids - according to the article. There were probably other circumstances leading up to this besides just growling. The dog may have bitten someone or several people for all we know. That article didn't smack of hardcore investigative journalism.

4. How many things have you done in your life that could be taken out of context OR made to look worse that it actually was if someone showed a 6 minute clip to the internet.

Stop and think first, before making stupid (and threatening) comments about the job those officers performed and / or the circumstances surrounding those events. You weren't there and you have extremely limited facts.

Thank you for adding reason to this thread. I'm no friend of cops. But I'm even less a friend to idiocy.

Why kill the dog after you have it under control? The dog isn't going anywhere or hurting anyone while it's attached to that pole.

I could maybe understand killing the thing if it was loose and was a dangerous threat to the officers, but it's ridiculous that they ignore the fact that they already have the situation under control.

I'm not saying the officers need to be punished. I'm simply saying they really shouldn't have to deal with that kind of shit and that is what the APCA (I think it's called that) is for to retrieve dogs that are in a bad place.

I'm sure they were ordered or authorized to use the force they did not arguing that.

I don't give a fuck if the video is 2 hours long, at no point is ok to gun down a dog that could of been controlled and captured. Its a pussy ass bitch move, just like pulling and using a gun because you can't back up your mouth without it. Fuck those pigs.

I'm not going to argue with you using logic and reason, when you're fueled by emotions. It just doesn't make sense.

The thing that made me angry was that after the dog was a bit upset when they got him in the leash, she calmed down fast and was quiet and peaceful at the end.

THEN the cop shoots the dog. WTF?
