On XP and 2000 we were covered but Vista is a totally different beast. So I was hoping folks could get me started in the right direction.

So far I'm thinking Kerio for the firewall and Norton for virus. I'm moreso concerned about the firewall right now, but will gladly take suggestions on both as I totally don't know jack crap about Vista security and all my searches thus far are drawing blanks..

An advanced firewall is prefered. Thanks a millie!

Kerio is a good one IMO but i would never use norton for anything, just my 2 cents

I'm using AVG for anti virus at the moment and haven't had any problems. My laptop came with Norton installed, but I was quite happy to get rid of the bloatware that sucks massive resources.

As for a firewall, I'm relying on windows at the moment, well that and my router.

Good choices. Just add Linux for the OS and you will be fine.

Well, you're mainly relying on your probably linux-based router... Be sure you are invisible (no answer for pings) and you don't have any open port.
