there is "shady" and then there is "fucking shady" .. not being able to opt out is fucking shady

great thread thanks

Money over bitches I'm yellin it to the grave, developed at a young age go after what pays.

But on a more serious note, that's fucked up. Glad I don't push Acai... I think the whole diet pill thing is bullshit anyways.

Credit card merchant banks with flush shitty merchants out of the system eventually if they have too many chargebacks, so it kind of works itself out. The majority of consumers will just call Visa and say that they can't get through to cancel, and 3 months later after the card company looks into it they'll reverse the charges. If people don't regularly look at their card statements and still buy online, it's buyer beware I think.

That said, if there's a legit alternative that converts just as well or better it's a no-brainer

Epic thread is Epic!

Seriously though there is a fuckton more money in ACTUALLY helping people with good products and services in the long run than by pushing them into buying shitty products that don't work.

Respect to rgordon for calling out the company on this. Putting shit in fine print is fair, but intentionally(?) preventing people from canceling is fucked up.

s'truth.
and ya'll are nuts for jumping from offer to offer.

hoodia, wu-yi, green tea, acai, and in the not so distant future you'll be pushing pregnant women's piss in a pill.
products that are ridiculously overpriced, usually ineffective, and loaded to the gills with uberhyped ad copy.

why?
why do we promote shady offers?

because we're helping people fill a need?
are we solving anyone's problem? or just perceived problems?
is it really because if we don't, nicky will?

or do we do it just because there's money to be made?
cause yeah. there's a metric shitton of money in scammy diet offers.

but for you?

know how much it costs the merchant to bring a 'free trial' offer to market?

for acai they're likely importing freeze-dried acai from one of the larger companies like sambazon for about $1-2 a pound. that pound is probably stepped on and will go on to become a few hundred 'free samples' -- but i have a hunch they still pull a slim profit from the s/h alone.

for diet pills you can get a compounding pharmacy or industrial supplement company to throw together a mixed bag of whatever nutrients or herbs you want, for less than a penny per dose.

then you pay for some shiny packaging, half decent copy, a merchant gateway, and a call center (optional in this case) -- you've got yourself the next big affiliate lose-weight-now offer on your hands, with an army of flaming wickeds ready and willing to advertise your product for relatively nothing.

and ya'll think the customer is the one getting fleeced?

you're being paid peanuts compared to what these guys pull through rebills. not only is on-going advertising cost virtually zero thanks to affiliates, but from what everyone's saying customer service doesn't make much of a dent in the bottom line either.

never run one myself, but from what i've read and seen i'll guesstimate that marketing is more than 80% of the usual overhead for a nutraceutical company, 15% going into in-house employment and fulfillment, and 5% to actually make the stuff.

if anyone's getting fucked here, i'd say it is the affiliate.

the customer? not really. they're consumers. they don't know (or care to know) what they're getting into. sure they might get hit for $80/mo until they cancel their credit card, but from a time/money investment viewpoint they're not getting fucked. they're just being fondled a little.

but you -- you marketer, you moneymaker, you sly fox -- you are not much better than a paid slave being rented out to the latest and greatest HURRY TIME IS RUNNING OUT offer.

you spend hours every day testing and tweaking your copy, market research, snooping on the competition, and refreshing stats. you spend thousands on media buys that may or may not pan out. you invest your blood/sweat/tears into an advertising campaign that either won't exist or won't be profitable in just a few short months, sometimes weeks.

you're the driving force behind this company's success.
and you do it for peanuts. sometimes really big peanuts, but still.
once these free acai offers run dry, you'll move on to the next.

i'll still be banking though. because yes, acai is a good product in high demand. has been since 2005.
even with all you fuckers killing my bids and flooding the market with shit acai, i expect my campaigns will remain profitable for years.

seriously. there are better ways to getmoney+getpaid without burning your leads with offers from shady companies. and you're practically being robbed blind by not squeezing every lead you generate for more than a 'free' sample -- cause they won't be buying shit from you after they get their CC bill.

/high and mighty moral authority

don't let me discourage you though, by all means -- keep raking in those 1000's a day.
money is money is money, no matter how little a piece you get.

just keep in mind that if you really don't care about fucking people for that dolla dolla bill, you're being a lazy ass by not starting your own shady acai company.

because yeah. it's dirt cheap to do.
and profit margins are wider than info products.
