Daily motivation, 6am is for hustlers.

Waking up early has absolutely no bearing on success.

I've been working for myself for going on 4 years now, and I get up every day at about noon after working till 5 or 6am.

Waking up early = success is a huge lie that has been perpetuated for decades by companies like IBM.

I used to feel like a loser every day when I woke up at noon but then I started realizing: "I made $4,000 while I was sleeping, I can wake up whenever I damn well please."

What people don't realize is even though I sleep till noon I still sleep WAY less than the average American.

I can't remember why I initially said 6am like it matters to anyone in particular, maybe because I've been around slouching unproductive ass people who never did much but kept bitching about how bad they got it for years, so deep down I still feel that if I don't set a schedule or work as hard as my very being allows me to, I'll be halfway there myself.

I don't just chase after money. There's an impact to this world I'm about to be responsible for just off a few unreleased projects I made happen during this last year.

I think the best thing as far as internet marketing goes is our location independence, but raking in some dough on a regular basis and not having much to do while it still keeps coming in shouldn't be an excuse for you to start living more comfortably and/or forget about what it's like to work your ass off and feel the burn again. That's peasant thinking. "Oh I have enough so let me just stop right the fuck there and get comfortable". Also remember "wall street 2" - the money is not the prime commodity in our lives... time is. Plus you don't just wanna work, you need that quality "look at what I did today" work.

I've been doing this since I was 12. I think I was in the 6th or 7th grade when my first check came in and I used it to pay some of my mothers bills. When I was 15 I had days where I would send out an email at 11PM, wake up at 6:30 to check over $350-400 in earnings from the time I was in bed, brush my teeth and then head to school. That whole "i make money while i sleep so I'm better than you" mentality ain't shit knowing that I've done it and everyone can do it. Now I'm right at the doorstep of college, and I keep going hard with this stuff. My family mortgage paid off, I bought the apartment we used to live in off them and turned it into an office, I still don't drive though. I like to just walk and really relax around this city. It even helps with ideas.

Basically never settled down and lived life under my own terms. That second video summarized pretty much my everyday frame of mind, I'm so far off in my zone I don't even need reminders.

Do you have a family? Kids? Employees? Wife (who works a 9-5)? An office?

The wake early thing will have no bearing on you what-so-ever if you don't have other commitments to juggle work around, which I'm guessing is true if you're living on a schedule of midday -> 5am.

If you work with other people, and have an office, or kids you want to see after school and spend time with, sick grandparents you have to look after, etc then waking up early is best way you can get in a couple hours of truly productive "on your own" work time, without interruptions or feeling guilty for neglecting another commitment.

I tended to perform best on a schedule similar to yours, as a pretty typical night owl, but now I have an office and have to work with other people during the day, plus set a "good example" by being in the office consistently, and on time. That means I need to be in the office for the entirety of the 9-5 window. To get in productive "alone" time I'd either have to stay in the office very late (until 2am, before going home) or leave the office, then come back at midnight or something stupid, or just get up a couple hours earlier and get in for 7/8am. Ended up going with the latter, and it's working well.

Any time from 5pm -> 2am can easily end up rescheduled. Social things get in the way, people asking you to do things, and so on.

5am -> 9am never gets rescheduled.

Waking up early fucks me over, any earlier than 7 (although generally don't get up until like 10) and I'm just a tired wreck for several hours, even if I've had 10 hours sleep.

It probably goes back to hunter-gatherer times when daylight hours really were most advantageous for what they were trying to do.

Serotonin levels in most people go up during daylight.

Actually, nope.

Goes back to farmer times, as daylight is needed for farm work.
