Nothing Can Be Explained
Live Broadcast | Red Bull Stratos

Red Bull Stratos is scheduled to launch today at 1:30pm! Felix Baumgartner will ride in a capsule carried by a balloon to an altitude of nearly 23 miles and then step out, falling face down and within 40 seconds becoming the first person to break the sound barrier without a vehicle. It will the highest, fastest, longest skydive ever attempted, breaking the records set by Joseph Kittinger in 1960 (using far less technology and no pressurized capsule).

I fucking love Red Bull.
Their international marketing stunts and events are truly second to none.

It's really a blessing that we have these brilliant, wealthy maniacs that are willing to put forth the tremendous amount of effort necessary to pull off such stunts.

Looks like it is an abort for today for high winds.

Got this from the live feed.

Cancel for gusty winds.

I'd bet that aborting the jump and postponing to another day is working out great in terms of marketing.

It's an extra day Red Bull is going to be in the news, and there's going to be a whole round of extra stories about "high winds stop Red Bull stunt attempt", that would otherwise not get published.

I'm not saying they pushed it back on purpose, but it would be pretty smart if they did.
