So today was my first day using an email submit lander to pass traffic through and the campaign is profitable, but now I'm approaching an interesting situation.

Over the course of the day I got about 130+ emails so far and my aweber campaign has already been set up w/ every message having a spam score of zero.

Well, low and behold... only six people have actually confirmed their subscription.

Has anyone seen anything like it? It's a non-incentivized offer and plenty of people converted after following the email submit but no one has gone back into their email and confirmed the aweber subscription.

I've been thinking about it and I'm thinking that either it's hitting their junk folders or maybe people just check their email so sporadically it's too soon to expect confirmations.

Anybody have any ideas or insight?

Thanks

And now for the breastststststes

6 / 130 is a very low opt-in rate.

Using double opt-in on Aweber, I've experienced rates anywhere from 10% to 90%. You can improve your ratio by reminding them to confirm after they've signed up. Also, can offer some incentive to get them to confirm (e.g. free report, secret to making monies, etc).

Alternatively, you can use single opt-in.

I think you're right, I'll just say Get Your Free Report on the lander.

I actually had it at single opt in and my open rate was abysmal. I sent out a broadcast to 70 people to test it and only 8 opened it.

Just a personalized email subject w/ the same format as my competitors who are successful.

The incentive might be the way.

Note: I just changed the subject line. I'll test different lines and see what happens. I know I'm not the only one with this issue.

Okay guys... I changed the subject line at 9:20pm ... Here's what's happened so far:

It's an improvement for sure. I'm also going to add what was suggested earlier and say "Get your free kit" above the form to see if that helps.

Now I'm running into another problem. I'm running out of cash to dump into this account and my credit lines haven't been increase yet.

God this is addictive. :D

there's a saying - "If you want to make money, don't use double opt-in"

Okay so here's what I did. About 10 more just came in and only 3 people confirmed so you're probably right. So I decided to just remove the double opt-in and make the followup email's subject line: "subscription confirmation" since that seems to bypass spam filters...

Will keep you updated. I'm trying to double my current profits and my list is just worthless right now.

From what I understand you're trying to convert people on an offer and get them to opt-in at the same time. It's not going to work that way.

Entice them to opt in with some kind freebie (simple page w/ tips, PDF, video, etc...), as soon as they opt in take them to a page that lets them know they must confirm their Email address, send them to the hidden page once they click on Aweber's confirmation link. Also, make sure to personalize the confirmation Email (subject line and body) for higher response.

You'll lose a bunch of people using double optin but it shouldn't affect your response if you do the above correctly. I typically get ~65% confirmation rate and even though my active leads are less in number, the conversion rate (and hence the # of conversions) are higher than single optin so it balances out.

Wait, are you telling me that what I'm doing isn't working? lol
