I think a few of you develop or promote apps for the iPhone. I just ran across this article and thought it might spark a few ideas for you...

Parents using smartphones to entertain bored kids - CNN.com

I hadn't thought about aiming apps - educational or otherwise - to the kid market until now. Paid or free-with-advertising, it could be a profitable market.

Market it on the "give the kids your phone during the road trip, bus stop, etc." angle? Might go well.

Market it on the "give the kids your phone during the road trip, bus stop, etc." angle? Might go well.

I suppose that might work.

I was thinking along the lines of, "Give your kids the opportunity to entertain themselves while developing their mental acuity and eye-hand coordination at the same time."

With the underlying idea, "Hey moms. Hey dads. You're lazy. You know it. I know it. Your kids know it. What's better? Sitting 'em in front of the boring boob tube or letting them play this app on your shiny gadget? Now download my app or your kids will hate your guts!"

Or, something like that.

I've been seeing a TON of kids-based apps come through iphone freelancer in the last couple weeks.
