Given that the vast majority here are not hardcore coders, i figured this might be of some interest. you all know how to work with HTML and CSS but C++ is a fair bit more complex.

this was all well and good but Apple kept refusing apps built using this frame work until a few days ago..

Well, Objective C really (not C++) which makes it even worse, since it's (IMO) a pointless language to dig into if you don't do any mac development. There's also mono touch that lets you do .NET dev for the iPhone, but the license cost is crazy IIRC.

Phonegap looks cool, and at a glance I don't see any licensing cost. Might have missed it. I'll probably toy around with it a little now, thanks for the heads up :)
 
you're correct, it is objective.. phonegap is opensource. i guess i should have mentioned that.
