Did I misunderstand the rules?

Ok, I'm a noob to the site, deal with it (waits for the flaming). But the rules rather confused me.

5- Signatures. You may post affiliate links, and banners if you like. Don't make it too excessive and annoying. No audio allowed.

So that means in signatures sure, it's alright. Then there's this:

6- No forum promotions whatsoever, this DOES NOT include signatures. I don't care if you own it, or your friend owns it. No advertisements for other forums are allowed without written permission from Jon. Any suspicious forum promotion will result in a 1 week temp ban or a warning.

13- Absolutely ZERO advertising allowed for any type of affiliate program within ALL of our forum topic sections. I don't care if you are some giant affiliate network or even the smallest merchant. We have a paid directory for this, and if you are caught doing it outside that area, we will issue you a strict warning or a ban. Affiliates are allowed to ask "would you use this and that" but if it seems spammy, we're going to investigate it, and you will likely end up with a violation of our rules and banned. Seriously, we are getting strict about this, so don't test us unless you really want to lose your account and program credibility.

So then we aren't allowed to make posts talking about our own affiliates programs, understood. But for some reason banners in the signature is ok? This confuses me slightly only because it's a bit contradictive to me. And if you've wasted your time reading this then congratulations, you're mediocre. Flame me if you want, but here comes the stupid question (and yes it's extremely dumb)

Are we allowed to have banners and our affiliate links in our signature? Are we not allowed to post any affiliates in any topic?

I'm pretty sure the answers are 1=yes 2=not allowed at all. But somebody gimme some reassurance that I understood that correctly.

If you want to be safe, stick around for about 50 posts. Then, drop a link into your sig without going around and making posts like, "buy the ebook in my sig" and "the stuff in my sig will make you money"

If you just stick around as an actual member instead of a person who wants to get their signature whoring out links ASAP, you'll have better luck.

It's about being a useful member of the community more than anything.

The rules get bent for pretty much anyone and everyone if they do more than just self-promote and irritate others.

I've done my own fair share of sig-spamming and self-whoring for my network and sites, but it's balanced out with contributions here and there.

As for the noobishness, there are plenty of noobs that don't get flamed because they're clearly not retards. Your current posts are lacking in retardetry so far as I can see, so you should be ok ;)

I think the key here is that users can turn sigs OFF and make WF void of ads for the vast majority of threads.
