This might effect product owners by creating new regulatory hoops but I don't see how it matters much to affiliates.
McCain is just trying to strengthen the FDA's ability to recall dietary supplements IF they prove to me unsafe. In the highly unlikely event that happens, you just move on to a new product.
This would be cause for concern if they were trying to limit the claims you could make on supplements. But they're not. McCain is not addressing efficacy or claims of efficacy.
The FDA will never monitor efficacy of non-pharma products. It would require rigorous (years long and very expensive) double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Even if companies could afford it, the FDA can't afford to monitor those trials. They are already understaffed. It's just far too impractical.
This is a whole lot of nothing.
