Hi

I have a site with affiliate banners on it. Would it be better to have, when the ads are clicked, the user goes to:

A: directly to the affiliate's homepage

B: to my landing page which has a 'join' button that then in turn goes to my affiliate's homepage

With B, the landing page is like a simplified version of the affiliate's homepage except with my logo at the top etc. It's like an extension of the site.

Thanks.

I would prefer landing page than direct linking, coz' it's the safest in terms of building your links to article directories, press releases, etc.

Link to your landing page, but the "Join" button should deep link to the affiliate registration page. The name of the game is convert so the quickest and less spamiest way to convert is what you want.

Sending them to your landing page then when they click "Join" they go to the affiliate homepage will slow down the conversion and many will bounce once they hit the aff homepage, so if you direct them right to the registration page after clicking "Join" you'll likely see more conversions.

Test! Test! Test! and then Test again!

Most of the Netoworks don't allow direct links so it would be better if you go with landing page.

Depends on what you are promoting and how you are promoting it.

If you are using organic traffic or promoting bizopps, landing pages tend to convert better. With education campaigns you almost always have to use an LP because the edu advertisers want to approve all placements.

Now dating, especially adult stuff, definitely works better for a couple of our pubs with direct linking. But then again, we have a few dating campaigns where the advertiser not only allow CL traffic, they build offers for it.

On the flip side, we work with advertiser that would go into convulsions and probably need to be hospitalized if we sent them CL traffic. I would always suggest talking to your AM. If you have "out of the box" traffic, they should be able to find a home for it... that is definitely part of their job.

I'm keeping PPC in mind, not really spamming if you're paying for it Scott.

Anyway, I'm going to look into deep linking with my affiliate, but I'm going back to direct linking for a bit. I'm in the financial industry.

I rarely do direct linking. At best, put a splash lander, or redirect or iframe so you can monetize traffic when the offer expires

Go with the landing page, describe the product a little and tell what's good about it and then send them through to the affiliates home age.

You can actually make some offer like: "If you buy this product from me right now then you will get..." you know, spic it up!

Best of Luck.
