Do I need to be paranoid of Google knowing I own sites within a network

So I have a couple of sites in the same niche and I use them to occasionally promote each other and keep their PRs high respectively. I run them as completely separate sites though so as to not look obvious within the community that they're run by the same dude...

So I was told once upon a time not to use G Analytics across multiple sites like this because you're basically telling Google that, "Hey, I own all these sites, they're related, but I want to rank them all high"

Which makes sense to me, at least it did at the time... So I use GetClicky instead...

However, if I want to run AdSense on both sites... well, should I be paranoid of Google now knowing that both these related sites have the same AdSense account (since you can't create multiple adsense accounts on the same name/payee)??

Your thoughts and candor are appreciated.

If you are not breaking any Adsense TOS / rules you should not be paranoid. Most people who earn via Adsense have more than 50 sites using the same Adsense ID.

I'm not paranoid of Google throwing the ban hammer, I'm paranoid of them knowing too much... if they see a single website operator with 2 high ranked sites for the same keywords wouldn't my links between them mean less to Google?

Google gives credit for quality links from high PR sites of the same general keywords... but if 2 sites are discovered to be from the same owner wouldn't they de-value the links between the 2?

This was the general reason it was long ago suggested to me not to use G Analytics on multiple sites within the same niche... you're giving Google too much info...

So am I paranoid to think the same would be true of AdSense?

I believe Google doesn't like same person ranking different domains for same keywords.

Long story short:
got 3 domains in an easy niche to #1, #2, #3
Ranked for a few days, then they dropped to #6, #7, #8, a week later only one remained in top 10.

No interlinking, all unique content, aged domains, one EMD, one whitehat PR5, basically no footprints other than same GWT.

tread carefully =)

Do you have to put adsense on sites you own? Or can you place it on other sites that you don't. If the latter 'you' could just be the company or individual that runs the adverts for a specific niche' couldn't you {rather than the owner) and therefore it wouldn't be a problem?

Thanks for the replies. I have [well had, I'm moving everything to GetClicky] G analytics on one site, but not the other. And I have AdSense on one site, but not the other to which I wanted to put AdSense on... I think I'll hold off for now.

So in AdSense you can generate a code snippet you can stick on any site... I haven't read the TOS :2drinkspit:but I reckon you can stick that code wherever... even on sites you don't own. But I don't know of anyway to 'inform' Google that I own site A but not site B both of which I'm running the same AdSense account on just that site B is 'some other company'.

The only way I see around it is to open an account in my wife's name with her social security number... but... eh... it'd be the same address; though I've no idea what lengths G goes to in order to tie things together.

I'll just play it safe for now... thanks guys

There are websites out there that are "Adsense sharing." Usually forums and certain article directories and multi-author blogs. They run your Adsense code to reward you for your contributions.

So yes, there are a few different times when your Adsense code might be displayed on sites you do not own.

It's probably best to follow path of least exposure to google. You really don't know what they can see, but it's safe to assume that they go to great lengths to track who owns what and links where. Play it safe, if you can.
