Example can you promote a UK offer on Yahoo (U.S.) and get conversions or do you have to go to Yahoo (UK?) I don't want to go through the trouble of creating a new account. Same applies to different countries, Switzerland, Hungary, etc.. I don't want to open a new Yahoo search account for every country.

I think he wants to know if he can create UK targeted campaigns with an US Yahoo account. And the answer is no, you have to get on account for each region/country.

That sucks. It's much easier with Adwords then as you can just choose what country to target.

Yeah definitely. YSM is a bit crap really keeping it separate. Is it the same on their publisher network?

If so, that would be a pain, geo-targeting scripts for the ads and shit.. like Amazon with at least 3 programs and eBay with fuck knows how many.

Slightly off topic, but I asked Yahoo a few months ago why there was such a difference between their US and UK affiliate programs for YSM. The reply was that they have to pay more in the UK to attract advertisers (£60 free credit as opposed to $25), but they didn't explain why Americans only have to deposit $5 to open an account and Brits have to deposit £60.

Google's system is definitely better - one program for everyone worldwide. Although their referral scheme leaves a lot to be desired.

With their publisher program it's not really need on their part as they only allow the US anyway. But really when they first came out in beta I heard and don't know if they still do it, but the publishers had to actually have the geo-targetting in place so that they can only send them US visitors and not international. To many international visitors and they would have got banned. This is most probably the only ad network that I have seen that has a lack of features. Geo-tagetting is something that YPN should have had and not their publishers.
