Do You Have Multiple Adwords Accounts?

I ask because I'm considering to do this myself, but I'm interested to hear about how others go about this before I do this.

The idea is to have one Adwords test account where I find all my profitable keywords. I put the keywords in bigger but still relevant adgroups to find them there.

Then once I've found the money keywords I move the campaign over to my Adwords main account where I set up the same campaign. But this time I know what keywords are good so I will make more targeted and smaller adgroups for those...

I am thinking about doing it this way because I read that recreating a new campaign or adgroups with the same keywords can upset Adwords. And also so that I will be able to just mess around a bit and not worry too much about account history etc.

For example, I now have a very good keyword with the minimum bid too high because my initial bid was too low. I could then make these kind of mistakes on my test account and then when I got everything together just recreate it in my main account without making the same mistakes.

What do you think?

yes, I do have multiple accounts. I try to keep one account going that is my main account where I want to build the most history. Others may be niched foucsed, etc. Your strategy is fine for splitting into testing/operations accounts.

I have 3 running with plans for a 4th soon. My accounts are limited to 50k keywords, 25 campaigns and 100 adgroups.
I've asked google for a bump to no avail.

I was going to ask the same question so let me piggy back on this one because this is also necessary to setting up multiple accounts.

Google's TOS states that if you have multiple accounts, you have to link them so G knows its the same owner. I assume you guys don't link your accounts because that would defeat the purpose, so how do you manage to log into each account under the same IP address?

Do you use different IP addresses and different credit cards names on each account?

If you have an MCC, then I don't think it really matters - it's reasonable to think that you could be managing the same type of campaign for different clients/websites (i.e. you have two clients who both market ringtones).

Yes, different credit cards etc.

If you want to be a bit nutty about it then don't link the accounts and use a service like FindNot and have multiple credit cards, with different addresses with a partners name.

G'luck.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong with the MCC issue, please.
