Do you think Jay Leno drops so many product and company names because he gets paid?

I think Jay, NBC, and the advertising are all in cahoots! Even for a joke that doesn't necessairly flatter a companies product, I think they are still paying for the name drops. I know for a FACT, that he name drops NBC tv shows, but what about other companies paying him for name drops. He can't praise them, becausee thats not funny, so he has to make the joke, just funny, but not detrimental to them selling products. Anyone else agree with me?

I've been pondering this for some years myself. Not just when watching his show, but other talkshows as well. It seems very obvious sometimes that they're having their pockets stuffed with $$$ just to name drop a new product or company.

I think the most obvious of these was when a few years ago, Rosie O'Donnell brought up the "must have toy" for the holiday season. Thanks to her mention of the new Tickle me Elmo doll - it became a HUGE, HUGE hit that year. Same goes for Oprah... you can't tell me she's not cashing in on this and that product or book mentioned on her show. A mention or recommendation of a popular host on a popular show is guaranteed money in the bank for both the host and the manufacturer.

Edit: And no.... I am not gay enough to watch Oprah or Rosie, but I had my share of those shows back when I lived in a small apartment with my wife (who watched them) and little else to do.
