Does Adcenter max bid matter?

It seems Bill Gates & Co is being very liberal with my credit card lately and charging me about $1 more per click than my max bid. I read their whole "average bid" thing but it still makes no sense that they would ever charge more than what an advertiser designates as their max.

Is this happening to everyone?
 


I bidded $4 with 5% CTR on search and only paid $1.

My experience with adcenter has been great. No volume, but good quality i suppose.
 
not quite on topic, but i recently deleted a campaign on adcenter with $2-4 clicks and it continued to run for like 3 days afterward. they acknowledged the problem after i ran a report detailing what was going on and have been "investigating" the cause for about a week now.

Yep, that's it. It's weird how they do that. I set 100% as my demographic. As I understood it, that sets 100% of all of my impressions on that demo only - not the case, what I have actually done is set it to 200% of my max bid when impressions for that demo are in play. I don't really like how that works but at least now I know.

You're right Cakes, they are very responsive and helpful.
