My Review
ok, PM me your email and i will send the list
OK, I got the report from lhurey - so here's my report as promised.
You get a spreadsheet with most of the links on and another text document with a few more links. The spreadsheet had urls in one column but as these cells also had comments in them as well as the url – you couldn’t just click on the link – you’d need to copy and paste it, to get to the blog.
I would have preferred a single consolidated spreadsheet – with one column just containing urls (which you could then click on) and another separate column for comments / PR data. (Especially if I was paying $200 for the report – as it was originally on sale here for.)
I found 22 .edu links with PRs ranging between 1 and 6. Plus another 12 or so with no PR as yet. There were also some forums and other links including a .gov.uk and a .gov. Plus 7 .ac.uk urls ranging from PR6 to PR3.
Out of the 22 .edu links with PR(1-6), most allow you to post comments.
The PR6 .edu pages don’t allow comments on the page. One PR6 .ac.uk – probably does however – although your comments would end up eventually on a lower PR page. The other PR6 .ac.uk was for their home page – so I’m not sure how your comments would get onto that page!
The PR5 .gov.uk page does surprisingly allow comments and there’s only a few links on it.
Out of the 20 .edu blogs where comments are allowed – most are DOFOLLOW and had an average of 63 OBLs (internal and external links out from the page). Some as low as 27 OBLs for a PR4 blog page, others with about 100. A few of the blogs were a bit spammy but most were OK.
At the top of the spreadsheet with the main set of url’s there is the assertion that “
1 .EDU link is worth 20 .COM links”.
As far as I’m concerned from my own research this is not the case. A backlink in the centre of the page from a PR6 .EDU with 100 OBLs is probably just as beneficial as a backlink in the centre of the page from a PR6 .COM with the same 100 OBL’s.
So would I pay 20 times more for a .EDU backlink than I would for a .COM backlink? No! But you can make up your own mind on that.
Is the report provided worth $200? I don’t believe so.
What is the report worth? I think you need to make up your own mind on that. You will be able to get a few .EDU backlinks on what are currently relatively unspammed pages. But the value of the report to you will be driven by how much value you place on having a .EDU over a .COM backlink.
My thanks to
lhurey for providing the report for me to review.
