Is that "verisignlabs.com" origionally from verisign? (I got this doubt since their alexa rank is only 185,000).

You'd be surprised at what verisign has offered over the years. There use to be something where you'd send them data and they'd kick back traffic reports even if the domain wasn't registered. So obviously that's what you used it for.
