Whoah, I've seen 3D printers that prints using plastic, chocolate or other stuff that melts fast, but this is insane..

Lol, i saw videos about organs getting printed in 3D but no weapons for now...

Downloaded a scud last night and sent it to my noisy neighbor's door. I told them if they didn't keep the noise down I'd print off a flyer and put it to their door, but they didn't care.

Well, this is still printed using plastic, but as it is the connecting part, it will be fine in operation.

It always makes me laugh when someone gets all surprised about stuff like this.

Believe it or not, weapons are quite easy to make, $20 worth of parts from your local walmart (or tesco for those of you across the pond) and you've got a shotgun.

Plum Crazy makes one right now that's made out of 'plastic' or some sort of similar material. Some complaints about it not holding up as good as aluminum. However having said that there are guys out there with home made forges that have cast the lower receiver out of melted down pennies and beer cans and had quite a bit of luck.

So they want an infinitely useful technology banned because they fear people who would use it for nefarious purposes?

Because government does such a great job keeping weapons out of the hands of the criminals, and they certainly don't give criminals the upper hand by keeping lawful citizens unarmed.

I don't think they're too worried about a home-made shotgun. Besides, anyone with pliers and a hammer has a shotgun. I think they're more worried about the more technical fully automated weapons. - Or the very high caliber weapons that are not legal to own.

maybe for a few addons it will be plausable, but the finish of these 3d printers leaves a lot to be desired, they're a bit sandpapery, the barrel will obviously be heavily affected and mess with the accuracy of the gun with badly finished inside.

I don't know about guns much, but i guess the firing mechanism will be a bit off too.

A little education for you.

I can, without registering it, or with any restrictions buy a lot of the PARTS of guns.

I can buy barrels and 'uppers' as they are called to AR-15s right now via the internet. These are the parts of the guns that handle all the pressure and gases from a bullet being fired from them.

All of this without background checks etc.

'Lower' part of an AR-15 (which is what I showed above) is the part of the gun that gets registered as a firearm. The lower is the part of the gun that is actually counted as a gun. Even in it's stripped down state like shown above.... that is considered an AR-15 by the ATF.

So i can go on the internet. Buy all parts of the gun EXCEPT for this part of the weapon and then 'print' my own AR-15 lower. Install the parts and the 'upper' to it and.... Boom... I have an AR-15 that the government doesn't know about.

Sandpapery feel doesn't matter its just the part you're holding on to. Plastic doesn't matter its just the part the houses all the real metal parts like trigger and bolt. All the pressure is being handled by the upper.

See the issue?
