just saw a commercial for this. I thought it was a cool concept but the commercial looked like one of those late night TV ads that sell shit for 20$. Except this software can cost up to 200$ so it peaked my interested and i was wondering if anyone had heard of it.

Basically for people that dont know what it is. All it does from what ive seen is you talk into a mic and it types out what said. This seems like kinda pointless software for some but I think it would really help with productivity if it really works as intended and doesn't make a shit load of mistakes.

I am a fast typer but still when I write up pitches I like to think off the top of my head and sometimes ill be thinking of an awesome pitch and while typing it out and occasionally stopping to fix errors i forget what i was thinking about (yeah i know shitty memory). Thats why im really interested in this. Anyone have any experience with it?
 


yeah i always knew there was the built in stuff and it never really worked that great. Especially if your had any typing skills. Thats why i was interested in this. Ive looked around and seen some reviews on sites like amazon, But i have no idea if these people who like the software just suck at typing so they can deal with the occasional error or theres some real heavy duty users like authors for example.
 
I've used it, and it works really good. If you say a sentence clearly it'll type it without errors. Yet for me it wasn't more productive. It just doesn't feel the same way as typing and I seemed to get distracted a lot while using it, especially when you gotta delete stuff (you have to say "delete + words to delete" or "delete last sentence" and stuff like that). Maybe it would be better if I really practised it for weeks, but usually the speed I type is more limited by having to think about what to type than to actually do the typing.

Oh and did I mention it sounds really, really, really weird to other people around you? ;p

It's definitely better than windows speech recognition, but I recommend you to try out the windows speech before you buy this to see if it you like it.
 
I've used it quite a bit, as well as tutored people on using it, and its safe to say theres no comparing it to other speech2type software. It works really well and is very accurate, but outside of disabled people and doing tasks such as writing speeches like you said it doesn't have a lot of uses in saving you time. At least not if you're a fast typer. If you're thinking it would be neat to just talk and have your computer do all the tasks as far as work goes, save your money. You'l switch back to a mouse and keyboard after about an hour. As far as the features and claims it makes, they are 100% accurate and then some.
 
Used it before.... eh, it was more of a pain and went back to typing. Then I said fuck this, and outsourced everything since.
 
I've used it and now had to switch to the windows pre-installed speech recognition thingy, because I can't get dragon to work with Win7 64bit.

I have to say that the Win speech recognition is almost as good as Dragon. If you stick with either through the inevitable learning-curve, it can definitely increase your productivity.



You'll also occasionally look like an idiot because of some stupid misiterpreted word that you don't catch during an edit.
 
I use Dragon and love it. I can type about 35 words per minute consistently over an hour. I'm up to about 45 with Dragon (though it depends on the topic), including the editing time.

I guess I could learn to type faster, but then talking doesn't give me RSI.
 
it's kind of a pain in the ass to set up...but i've heard it works great. i used it for <1 day and lost patience with it, nice waste of 150 bones
 
Dragon is a powerful little piece of shit. I used to use it a while back but gave up coz I then spent a lot of time editing the shit from the shyte. (if you get my drift)
 
has anyone ever tried putting the mic up against a speaker and used the software to write whatever is being broadcasted?

This is why I would buy it and curious to know if it works.
