Drop First Campaign? Too Popular?

I just started my first campaign, a fake blog, selling a "how to get your ex back" ebook. I was just too damn excited and impatient to waste any more time deciding what to do.

Over the past 2 weeks I bought the domain, installed wordpress, added blog posts every few days with links. A few without links. One of them is very sales-pagey. I installed a bunch of plugings, like all in one seo, askimnet, google sitemap generator, google analytics, etc.

Ran into a couple of roadblocks along the way, so some quick advice would be awesome

Link Building / Directory Submissions - Seems like every directory that I find requires some sort of link back or pay $$. Is this worth continuing to try and find them? I've been using Backlink Builder

Forums - Every forum I've found has some pretty strict rules about putting links in the signature. Sometimes you have to make a certain # of posts etc. I got banned on my first forum, I tried not to but I felt like I was seeming really spammy. How do you find the right forums, or do u just put in more time on these?

I've been submitting to social bookmarking sites, but I dont know if this is just for link building or actually trying to get people to click, because I doubt anyone would click on it. Takes lots of time to register for each one even though I'm using Social bookmarking service. Fast tagging and posting to all major social websites - SocialMarker.com. Should I be submitting individual posts or the whole website?

So I've been looking at my stats and prolly 90% of the traffic is ME. I've got one hit from someone searching on google which I am at the bottom of page 2 for some wack ass keyword combo.

My question is this... continue to hustle this even though it seems to be uber competitive, or learn how to do my research first and begin something else that might be easier for someone new?

Thanks :)

Honestly man I would say at this point focus more on getting the fundementals down on how to launch manage and optimize a campaign. How to get your ex back is probably not the billionaire niche BUT any campaign u launch ull need to set up shop so once u find a good niche you can pimp it all day!

At this point, your social bookmarks are about getting backlinks.
If you're not going to get Bookmarking Demon, then spend a day to make an account on all those sites, and get a plugin that'll bookmark posts automatically when they go up.

Getting traffic off social bookmark sites only happens when you get a lot of friends who'll +1 your links, or something that's genuinely viral.
Well, you can also hire people to give you "organic" +1s in the hopes of getting on the front page, or get your black hat on, but leave that stuff until you've come to grips with the fundamentals.
