The magazine business model?

I only did research on it when my step dad was talking about how nearly impossible it was for him to take the charge off of his credit card, and how tough of a time he had with the companies and his bank/CC to get it off and make it stay off. That just got me curious into thinking about it from a business and in awe perspective (which is usually how my mind operates) instead of trying to figure out WHY they would do that, I wanted to learn HOW they did it.

Autoship subscription in general, but he did use a couple of magazines for example.

1 example I remember was Girls Gone Wild. You sign up for that, and you might as well call the fucking bank and cancel your shit.

I've seen more, and this guy had a really slick way for finding leads.

The name of the book is "how i made 77 million dollars in 2 years and so can you."

Ya, it's a get rich book i guess, I'm trying to buy it again because it has some REALLY good stuff in it.


But magazines... those sneaky fuckers will come right up to your door lying like they're on scholarship or some shit and put you in the credit card death grip.

I'll be using a similar approach as scottspfd82 is, however I'm going to try and go for a more long term approach by building a blog. This way I can hopefully feature several offers, and then hopefully the user will find one they like and sign up. Thanks for the ideas sniper, +rep coming your way.

Oh yea, thanks for posting that book about the magazines. Sounds like a good read, I'll check it out.
 
I think I might have to set up my TiVo to record a bunch of infomercials tonight. So many niches, so little time.

I'd love to know how much it costs to run those ads on tv in a small market.
 
At the beginning of this thread you mentioned doing a reverse dns lookup to find all (most) of the URLs of that ad. I took one of those urls like 10gain.com and found the IP address of 67.15.6.53, did a whois and found ev1server.net. Where do you go from there to get all the rest of the URLs?

I just want to say, great thread. As a n00b I love reading these "step by step" threads, but not so much for the exact ideas as for the insight into how more experienced and successful guys think.

Quick comment on the autosubscription thing - How did no one mention Columbia House?

Also, what do you think fo this idea? Do an autoship subscription thing similar to Columbia House but for exercise videos. I always see them on clearance and it seems like you could buy a ton of them cheap. Just do some offer like five for a penny, make the first month a popular, newer video, then bump the price way up and autoship them the cheap clearance stuff thereafter?

For sniperseo, I see people speculating. I'd really love to see a step-by-step on how you put that list together.
