Email from Godaddy Compliance and Subpoena

No trademark names and no traffic? It sounds like you have nothing to worry about. Did you have a bizopp campaign set up at all?

nope never had any bizopp campaign ran to this particular site they are asking for. Only tracking202. I had bizopp on different domain though..

Wow. Just move (all your monies and yourself) to China/Russian. They won't be able to do a thang.

LOL jk.

Seriously tho, get a lawyer and...good luck bros!

You need to be up at 6:00 AM and at a lawyer's office at 8:00 AM. Bring your checkbook.

You need to object to this if only to give yourself time to figure out what the hell is going on.

umm if you didnt run biz ops or any traffic to the domain for that matter -and- the domain doesnt mention "google" ... then you'll be fine

however, i suspect that's not the case

You did not comprehend it right. It's only if he wants to object to godaddy giving out his personal identifiable info should he need to reply or take action.

Also wondering if google was included in the domain name and if you wouldn't mind disclosing how much volume was done through this particular domain.

It is a good idea to fight every step along the way, using every procedural trick available. The current step is to prevent his identity from being disclosed to plaintiffs by GoDaddy. Why should he acquiesce? At least turn it to your advantage by getting as much information as possible. He could still slow down the process.

Two things:

First, the fact that any sort of legal notice was sent through email - especially with only a two-day notice - AND from a compliance officer - seems fishy as hell.

That said, the law firm in question does exist at that address. And they have a 3-letter domain name (hro.com), which leads me to believe they have ample resources.

It doesn't surprise me , godaddy has never been a champion of privacy.

I'm thinking from now on, it might be best to use only domains that are registered offshore w/ private information.

If google really wants to go after you, then fake/offshore private information isn't going to save you; just delay them.

Goog is attempting to defray costs on the suit by consolidating them into one action in Utah. #7 within their pleading asserts they have reason to believe that both PWW and all of the Does have a presence in Utah. This is BS. They know they have jurisdiction against PWW there, but have no basis to know any affiliate as substantial contacts with Utah.

They are attempting to use this ploy in order to get discovery, then they will dismisss the Utah action and jack the Does for settlements. If you are a Doe, then your best shot is to file a motion to quash quickly asserting lack of jurisdiction. If you prevail, then goog would have to re-file against you in your locality as a sole defendant.. they very well may, but there is a chance that they'd make a business decision that a single defendant suit isn't worth it and let you go.

1) are you based in the US?
2) were you using GoDaddy for hosting, domain registration, or both?
